What I Do

Corum Web Designs is a small web design studio (one person) that builds simple, usable and attractive web sites with small businesses in mind.

I strive to simplify the coding of your site in order to improve speed, lower costs and make your site more structurally sound and accessible.

My website designs follow these standards:

Accessible

Accessibility has been a buzzword for awhile in the design of buildings. But have you ever thought about consumers who are sight or hearing impaired or have some kind of motion disability visiting the internet? Well, they do!

I make a special effort to design your website so that all consumers will be able to use it. The text of your website will be easy to read, adjustable in size, and have good contrast. For those consumers who are blind, there are programs that literally read the webpages to them. That takes some special care in coding so that the reader doesn't just read an unintelligible jumble. Some consumers have trouble using a mouse, so that takes more special care in coding.

All this special care is not difficult or expensive if incorporated right from the beginning of the design of your website. Don't settle for anything less!

Easy To Read

Have you been to websites that use small print, or colors that don't have a lot of contrast? Or the lines of text are too close. Pretty soon your eyes are straining and getting tired. People of all ages and eyesite ability visit websites. Why make it difficult for them to read your pages? There is no excuse! I strive to make your website easy to read.

Hand Coded

At Corum Web Designs, I hand code your website using html and css. This means I don't use expensive website design programs and pass the cost on to you. It also means that your website will be unique. I code your site so that in the future, if you want to make some changes, it will be easily done whether you have me make the changes, or if you have someone else. I can even show you how to make minor changes!

W3C Quality Assurance Markup Validation

Most industries have some kind of standards and guidelines. Website design is no exception. The most well-known organization working to develop these standards is called the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C for short).

If you want to know more about the W3C, visit their website at World Wide Web Consortium

You can read more about validation at: Validating - why is it important?

Works in all popular browsers

Because I follow W3C standards, the websites I design will work in all popular browsers or computer operating systems. I even try to keep our designs coded so that they will work in other devices such as cell phones.
